July 2004 King Street Sounds Newsletter
Hear THIS!
Greetings!
Hope those who celebrated the 4th here in the States had a good one and welcome back! First off we'd like to give HUGE CONGRATS to Mr. Frankie Knuckles. The city of Chicago has officially decreed August 28th as Frankie Knuckles Day!
They also named a street after him... It's nice to see a major city in the US embrace house music and acknowledge the people who've dedicated their lives to it. Now to convince Congress to make it a bank holiday...

Summer's in full swing and there are HOT new releases this month including the much anticipated "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" by Ananda Project with remixes by Eric Kupper, Sir Piers; and new singles from the King Street/Women on Wax collaboration Diviniti, Mondo Grosso, and Scott Wozniak...

    Scott Wozniak's Blue Skies 2004
One of our all time favorites returns with a bunch of great new mixes, ready to introduce this classic to the dancefloor once again. Mr. Wozniak gives his masterpiece an update with some peak-hour, disco flavor on his 2004 Remix, while John Mateo (of Mateo & Matos fame) trips it out with a fantastic, funky-ass dub. The Original Smokin' Beats Mix is straight up old school house perfect for the heads, and the Malawian Blue Dub is pure instrumental bliss.

Written, Produced & Mixed by Scott Wozniak

"Find A Way": The EZ-Summer-Soul-Filled Sound
With the original already released on Women On Wax and doing quite well, Danny Krivit graces us with his legendary editing technique and enhances this track to its greatest potential. Solid production dipped in South American warmth, "Sade" styled vocals from Divinity, and baked Bossa Nova beats, makes this a great set starter perfect for the summer nights. Danny's Instrumental Edit and Pirahnahead's Original Mix sit quite comfortable on the B-side as well. Danny, in fact, has been hammering the original so much, we just had to have a piece of the action!

Next In Line For Mix The Vibe...
In our ongoing exertion to bring proper, deep house to the masses, our mega successful "Mix The Vibe" series has always done this with great accomplishment. Shinichi Osawa (aka Mondo Grosso) continues the tradition of these great mixes with the 14th installment of the series,"Mix The Vibe - Street King".

This first EP showcases two classic tracks off the cd with some stellar edits from Shinichi himself. Deep Zone (Matthias Heilbronn & Mike Delgado) do a great mix of "Do You See What I See", while Louie Vega & Joe Claussell remix the house classic, "Souffles H" with excellent results. Both tracks have been specially edited for the compilation and have been previously unreleased. Produced by Shinichi Osawa
