The Hype:

As King Street‘s sister label Nite Grooves gets ready to celebrate 20 Years in 2014, we wanted to tap into the very essence of its diverse and deep sounds with a respectable comp. For this we needed the compiling candidate whose indisputable musical history spanned eras, styles and functions. After all, if you only know House Music, you won’t make good House Music. Enter the legendary DJ Spinna. With roots in Funk, Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Soul, he’s remixed for Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, De La Soul and more. He’s collaborated with Eminem, worked with Pharoah Monch and has had two hip hop groups, Jigmastas and Polyrhythm Addicts. His remix of Shaun Escoffery‘s “Days Like This” is arguably one of the greatest remixes in Soulful House Music history and is still being played today. For just under 2 decades, Nite Grooves has been on the forefront of Deep House, contributing to the global movement it is today. Its been known for releasing the more underground profound cuts, like those found on this album, that have at one point or another, made their way onto nearly every dancefloor on the planet. On Deep Into Nite Grooves: Mixed & Selected by DJ Spinna we get treated to an almost 80-minute head-knodding journey of some of the grooviest tunes in the catalog. He kicks off the 22-song comp with the truly vibey Fred Everything & Olivier Desmet Remix of Dennis Ferrer feat. Bola Belo‘s “Dem People Go!” and leads us into deep tune after deep tune like Bassmental‘s “Names Like?,”  Soundealers‘ “I Know You Want Me” (Langenberg Night Mix), Nil By Mouth‘s “Lunate,” Sunshine Jones‘ “Dirty Love” (Aki Bergen & Daniel Jaze Soulvision Remix) and others. He also includes six brand new unreleased tracks like Gussy//Delgado‘s “You Say Music,” 9west‘s “Simple Things,” Alex Font‘s “The Real Thing,” Roland Nights‘ “To The Point,” Rancido‘s “Sphere” (Deep Journey Main Mix), and more. The vibe gets house-ier and the pump gets even deeper with Cevin Fisher‘s “House Music” (Supernova Remix), Technique‘s “This Old House” (Oliver $ Dub), Conga Squad‘s “Blow Up” (James Dexter Remix), Doomwork‘s “Red Lips.” and the synthy “Electrikiss” by Eric Kupper presents K-Scope. The journey then takes a more alterna-dance direction with Spinna‘s own remix of P’taah‘s “Sun’s Departure,” which is followed by another P’taah feat. Tiombe Lockhart track and his own re-edit of Kenny Dope‘s Remix of “Dance Until We Die.” Then we round off nicely with Kerri Chandler‘s Original Concept Mix of Ananda Project feat. Mia Tuttavilla / “Awareness,” Eric Kupper presents K-Scope‘s “Dreamstate” and finally Luigi Rocca‘s Remix of G.IL.V.‘s “Perspective.” All these bassy, deep, thump tracks and silky smooth selections are as sensuous as they are cool and vibey. DJ Spinna puts them together seamlessly, creating a constant groovy ebb & flow, making this a great soundtrack to any deep house evening.

For this we needed the compiling candidate whose indisputable musical history spanned eras, styles and functions. After all, if you only know House Music, you won’t make good House Music. Enter the legendary DJ Spinna, and here, the sampler of 6 tasty tunes from the album to come. Unreleased, brand new tracks that are just seeing the light of day. Deep House producer “Roland Nights” kicks off the EP with “To The Point,” a thick bass drum, rubber bassline, sweet kicks & and all around groover. These guys are getting all kinds of support from Mark Farina, Miguel Migs and other heavyweights. UK House producers Gussy & Delgado give us “You Say Music,” a deep dope groove that moves along nicely with a particular legend’s hypnotically-sounding spoken interview riding the bounce oh so smoothly.  Greece’s premier deep house clan 9west hits us with “Simple Things,” a real heady, synthy, moodynumber expertly produced with pure deep house class. Twisting some acid funkknobs is a cool producer out of Valencia, Spain. Alex Font giving us “The Real Thing,” and mixes in all those funky flavors nicely. Dutch deep producer Rancido comes in with light tribal rhythms from dancefloor jungle with his Deep Journey Main Mix of “Sphere,” and we round off the Sampler EP with Spinna‘s own Re-Edit of the Kenny Dope Remix of P’taah feat. Tiombe Lockhart‘s “Dance Until We Die.” Truly solid.

The Hype:

Super suitable kicks and a sweet sonic bounce are just some of the sounds you’ll hear from these 23 brand new tracks of this 2013 edition of After Hours Miami! Italian House star Gary Caos‘ pumpin tribal tune Woman get the bass rolling and Redondo‘s “Say It To Me” maintains a cool deep vibe suitable for a warm-up set or after hour. New Jersey house representative Cevin Fisher‘s “House Music” got remixed by Supernova and the result is nothing short of a floor-filler. Next up is Emeskay‘s “Beggin,” whose latin percussive elements and shoutin’ vocal samples blend together nicely over a phat groove. Amnesia, Rocho & Lenny vs Nimphidia show a tight collaboration on “The Life I Chose,” with its tricky beats and sweet vocal, it’s yet another potential floor-filler in this collection. To round it all off, sensational EU producers Crazibiza drop another King Street bomb on the mighty “I Can’t Wait” joint effort between Japanese producer Namy & the Queen of House herself, Barbara Tucker. Demarkus Lewis‘ deeper than deep track “Deeper Than Thou.” Conga Squad is up next with “It’s All Yours,” shining the floor with its neodisco-style groove. John Demark & Antoine Cortez “Fabulous Disco”‘s massive drilling baseline is so tremendous, it could be mentally disastrous for the unprepared. Dee Marcus‘ addictive blood pumper, “Cutoff” truly rocks your dance mind and Mr. Kavalicious “Deception” is a deep minimal track that simply cools you down nicely. Fashionable disco-ish deep house Stefan Kaye‘s “Liaison” adds a bit of urban lava. Nicko Vee‘s “Rise” sweeps the heat with its melancholic moody melody and his signature fat groove. Including several more such as James Silk‘s “Juice Box”, Fabian Argomedo‘s “Jet” with a high energy remix by DJ Deka. Marlon D Remix of “NY Dream” by Deep Character & Mad Boss feat. Big Daddy. The sexy vocal track by “Night Lover” by Eppu feat. Sexy Sound Ladies with Deepdisco Remix. Followed by Sean McCabe‘s Remix of “Love Like This by Ananda Project and Reelsoul remix of “How Much I Love You” by Kimara Lovelace. Also is the smooth spoken word of Urban Soul‘s “My Urban Soul” with the Black Sonix Remix. Included as a bonus are 2 continuous mixes by NYC based DJ and King Street‘s very own NoonStar that is sure to keep the party going until sunrise. A truly great compilation of  thumping tunes suitable for a variety of roaming rhythms throughout the night.
