The Hype: Now available in full digital format this release certainly takes us on one hell of a cool rhythmic journey. It weaves between spiritual soulful house, Latin beats, light Tribal, Future Bossa Nova, and hot Balaeric & jazzy melodies. San Francisco-based DJ/Producer/Remixer, Julius Papp, is on call to mix the whole thing together, and he does so, seamlessly. Starting off with one of the most beautiful covers in the King Street/Nite Grooves catalog, Gina René’s a cappella to “A Thousand Years”, Julius slowly builds up the beat using rhythms and remixes by such artists as 2006 Grammy Award Winning Remixer Louie Vega, Ananda Project, Dennis Ferrer, Frankie Feliciano, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Ralphi Rosario, Kiko Navarro, Matty Heilbronn, Julius himself. The Cd’s tunes peak and then cool down to a great finish, as any good journey should. Latin-based remixes of house favorites like “Hold My Heart”, “Mongobonix”, “Xel-Ha”, “Breaking Down”, “Latin Ritual”, and many others keep us in good company this musical voyage. Considered to be the remixed version of the Abstract Lounge series and following the wide success of Abstract Afro Journey, mixed by Ron Trent, this is the first of the Latin genre to be released. All in all you’ll find this to be one percussive tuneful collection that’ll make soaking in a day of rays that much warmer and brighter.
