The Hype: There are only a handful of folks in the Soulful/Deep House community who can claim legendary status and Brooklyn-based producer/remixer/dj Frankie Feliciano is certainly among the lot. With his own label Ricastruction producing releases and countless remixes in the double decade of musical tenure for so many different labels like Strictly Rhythm, Yoruba, Vega, MAW, Soundmen on Wax. Right here we find the TWENTY or so re-rubs he’s done for King Street alone in the first “best of’” comp series, namely, House Legends. Here we present some of the most stunning remixes with beautifully crafted sounds stemming from the mind of the master producer himself and flowing out of the stacks of some of the world’s best parties. Sweet songs like Rain / a Lil Louis Painting’s “Give it Up,” Ananda Project feat. Terrance Downs’ Into The Sunrise and Hanging On, Kiss Kiss Kiss and Love Alive” feat. Heather Johnson to the hailed Studio Apartment feat. Monique Bingham’s Flight, “Holding Onto Your Love” by Stephanie Cooke, and more recent “There She Stands” by Namy feat. Monday Michiru. Included are also other productions under his nom de plume such as Nulife (feat. Kenny Bobien) & Real Thing (III) whose Wonderland single had an incredible Dance Ritual Mix by Louie Vega that was heard booming out of retailers like Dancetracks and parties like Shelter, Dance Ritual, and Body & SOUL alike. Whether you’re reliving the underground days or discovering them for the first time, one thing’s for sure, Frankie’s superb production qualities have remained consistent throughout, acing the test of time.

The Hype: Deep House/Tech House producers Doomwork take ur head deep into a noddy, hypnotic state and roll out a deep, deep tripped out instrumental. Having been influenced by Chicago House, Detroit Tech and Big Beat Electronica, one can hear the nuances in their productions. Nominated in 2010 for a Deep House Beatport Award, their increasing production workload has been ever consistent with their achievements. On the remix to Stardust is Seattle House producer Dave Pezzner who vibes with additional warped synth vibrato over the minimal thump track. If dance floor simplicity is the key then this is the lock. ‘This’ combines all of the usual Doomwork hallmarks, tight production, crisp drums and beat perfect arrangement, with acidic twinges and a persistent, nagging groove punched through with an unmistakable vocal. Solo’s remix of ‘This’ is a smooth, upbeat piece that will no doubt lift mood whenever dropped.

The Hype: Russian producers PRT Stacho & Underset collaborate with vocalist Ange on this dark progressive entity called Empty World. The original mix would be a perfect fit of the major motion picture Underworld its darkness is very fitting. Alex Roque & Marcelo Vak however bring it up a few notches with their remix. They dont fail to keep the darkness within their mix but it definitely would sound fierce in a big room. DJ Keiichiro bring on apulsating drum kick with a techier edge.

Here presented are a collective of remixes from the LP amply titled Remixed Silence. Featuring remixes from several of well respected and up and coming producers. UK House producer Spencer Parker is on “Your Soul On Mine” duty adding a bit more acoustic rawness with live-sounding percussion colored by repeated cinematic piano and string jabs while keeping the jazziness intact. Listen and know what we mean. UK-by-way-of-Argentinian producers Silver City who gives “Fade Away” a phenomenal, full on modern Disco feel. “Perfumed Silence” remixed by up and coming Italian producer Francesco Tarantini who’s already creating a buzz with his infectious Deep/Tech/Soulful House tracks. “Brown Out”‘s break-beat experimental original get a superb re-rub by talented German tech producer Siopis, who’s had productions on notable labels like Get Physical, and delivers a deep pumpin’ chunker. Super-talented French producer Manoo delivers a straight up 4/4 deep soundscape-y house mix of “Sun’s Departure.” Quite the masterpiece in its production and arrangement Japanese producer, Kuniyuki, whose Dub of “Tears and Light” brings the song out of the Garden Tea Party and back onto the dance floor. The Cosmic Laws remixed by Mr. Phil Asher of UK Restless Soul providing his signature soul style is the absolute perfect bed for Monday Michiru wondrous vox to lay upon. Though Perfumed Silence is a significant record in laying fresh foundations this remodeled compilation of remixes continues to push forward Ptaah to further depths.
